Dr. Gryder has spent more than three decades practicing veterinary medicine in Granbury, caring for pets and building relationships with the families who love them. Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, she moved with her family to El Campo, Texas, when she was 15. Growing up surrounded by dogs, cats, and horses, she knew from an early age that she wanted to become a veterinarian.
Dr. Gryder attended Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1991. She married her husband, Scott, while attending veterinary school, and the two moved to Granbury in 1996. Since making Granbury home, she has had the opportunity to care for generations of local pets and families.
Dr. Gryder first joined Acton Animal Hospital in 2014 and has remained connected with the practice over the years. Today, her clinical focus is wellness and preventive care, helping pets stay healthy through every stage of life.
Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is the relationships that develop along the way. She enjoys getting to know clients and their families and having the opportunity to care for their pets throughout their lives—from their first visits through their senior years. That long-term connection with both pets and their people is one of the things she finds most rewarding about being a veterinarian.
Dr. Gryder also shares Acton's commitment to making veterinary visits as comfortable and low-stress as possible and has completed Fear Free certification training.
Outside the hospital, Dr. Gryder enjoys spending time with Scott and their family. Their two daughters are now grown and married, and she is enjoying a new chapter of family life as a grandmother. Animals continue to be an important part of life at home, where dogs, cats, horses, and cattle have long been part of the family.
Dr. Gryder and her family are active members of Triple Cross Cowboy Church. After more than 30 years in Granbury, her roots in the community run deep, both personally and professionally.
For Dr. Gryder, veterinary medicine is about more than an annual exam. It's about building relationships, helping pets stay healthy, and being there for the families who care for them throughout their pets' lives.
